Time Away from VinUni: Leave, Withdraw, Return

Types of Time Away

Type Purpose / Situation Key Notes
Planned Leave of Absence Temporary break due to personal reasons, family circumstances, health, or study abroad. Student intends to return to VinUni.
  • Maximum 3 consecutive semesters (including Summer).
  • Total leave time: up to 6 semesters throughout the program.
Withdrawal Student formally exits the program and does not plan to return. Must submit a withdrawal request form. Once approved, the student loses student status.
Involuntary Leave Leave required due to academic suspension, disciplinary action, or serious health reasons. Initiated by the University. Student must comply with return conditions.

Procedure & Eligibility

  • Submit a formal request via email to the Registrar’s Office.
  • Request must be reviewed and approved by:
    • Academic Advisor or Program Director
    • Student Affairs (for health/psychological reasons)
    • University leadership (for special cases)

Returning to Study

Scenario Conditions for Returning
Approved Leave of Absence
  • Submit return request at least 1 month before the new semester begins.
  • May be subject to review or interview if away for a long time.
Withdrew and wants to return
  • Must reapply as a new student through the Admissions Office.
  • Previous credits may be re-evaluated.
Suspension or Involuntary Leave Must fulfill all return conditions outlined in the official decision.

 

Important Notes

  • During leave or withdrawal, students do not have access to academic services, systems, or library privileges.
  • Time away is only recognized if officially approved; unapproved absence counts against your maximum study duration.
  • Students are responsible for staying informed and initiating the return process.
